Our subsidiary MJ Quinn has secured a three-year extension to its contract with Openreach for the Heavy Cable Recovery programme, a key initiative supporting the modernisation of the United Kingdom’s telecommunications infrastructure.
The project aims to systematically remove obsolete copper cables, creating space for the deployment of next-generation digital technologies.
Since the beginning of the programme in October 2023, MJ Quinn has recovered over 790,600 kg of decommissioned cables, contributing to the development of a more efficient and environmentally sustainable network.
"This opportunity is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our teams who deliver excellence every day. By removing legacy infrastructure, we are helping pave the way for faster, more reliable connectivity across the UK. We are excited to grow our workforce in North West England and South Wales and look forward to driving real progress in the industry alongside Openreach.”
David Brown, Managing Director - Telecoms
In addition to enhancing the telecoms infrastructure, the programme has also delivered local economic value through the creation of new jobs in North West England and South Wales.
With this contract extension, MJ Quinn reaffirms its role as a key partner in the UK’s digital transition, supporting the rollout of a faster, cleaner and future-ready network.
